Client Obtains Early Release From County Jail

Our client had been convicted of a class “C” controlled substance felony and had been sentenced to serve a one year term of imprisonment.  Pursuant to a little-known and underused section of the Penal Law of the State of New York, our attorneys were able to make a successful application and our client was released directly to parole supervision after less than half of his time was served and, after completing an additional term of community supervision, the balance of our client’s sentence will be commuted.

Conditional Release to Parole is not limited to inmates convicted solely of controlled substance related offenses and can be used to commute the sentences of many inmates who are serving up to a two year term in a local county jail. Furthermore, although there is a limit on how many individuals may take advantage of this service, owing to how few attorneys are aware of and apply for Conditional Release of their clients, a shorter term of imprisonment and early release is possible in many cases.
